Frequently asked questions

What is a free subdomain?

A subdomain is a name that sits in front of a domain, like yourname.dotin.site. With dotin.site you can claim one for free and point it to your own website, app, server or hosting service.

Is dotin.site really free?

Yes, you can start for free. Each account can claim up to 5 subdomains with up to 20 DNS records each. Larger limits and paid options may be added in the future.

Can I use my own hosting or server?

Yes. Add an A record (IPv4) or AAAA record (IPv6) to point to a server, or a CNAME record to point to another hostname such as a hosting or website-builder address.

Can I set up email on my subdomain?

You can add MX records and SPF/DKIM TXT records that your email provider gives you. Email delivery itself is provided by your own email service, not by dotin.site.

How long do DNS changes take?

New and edited records are sent to our DNS provider immediately. They usually become visible within a few minutes, but some networks cache old answers for longer. Use the DNS check button in your dashboard to see the current status.

Can I use HTTPS (SSL) on my subdomain?

Yes. We only manage DNS. Your hosting provider or service issues the SSL certificate for your subdomain, for example with a free Let's Encrypt certificate.

Why do you ask for my phone number?

A phone number helps us keep the service safe from abuse, contact you about important account issues, and add extra verification options in the future. We do not sell your data.

What is not allowed?

Phishing, malware, spam, impersonation and any illegal content. Subdomains used for abuse are suspended without notice. You can report abuse from our Report abuse page.

How do I sign in?

Sign in with your email and password, or continue with your Google account when Google sign-in is enabled.
